AMASX Historical facts : Toronto

Toronto, Canada's most populous metropolitan area, has been Monster Energy Supercross' host city for the lone international stop on the 17-race schedule since the 2008 season. It's the 38th different city to host a championship race.

The city of Toronto first became a part of Monster Energy Supercross with the FIM World Supercross GP in December 2004, which was an addition to the regular championship schedule.

The Rogers Centre, formerly known as SkyDome, was a technological marvel when it first opened in 1989 as the first stadium to feature a fully retractable motorized roof.

With its purpose-built floor space for both baseball and football, the spacious Rogers Centre floor lends itself to some of the most unique track layouts in the championship.

2014 podium: James Stewart, Justin Barcia, Ryan Dungey

The first race held in Toronto was December 2014 as part of the FIM World Supercross GP portion of Monster Energy Supercross. Ricky Carmichael won on a Suzuki.

The first Toronto race held as part of the 17-race Monster Energy Supercross championship was March 29, 2008. Chad Reed won on a Yamaha.

Four different riders won the first four Toronto races from '08-'11. Those four competitors - Ryan Dungey, Chad Reed, James Stewart and Ryan Villopoto - are the only four winners at Rogers Centre.

Each previous Toronto winner has won at least two Monster Energy Supercross championships.
The winner in Toronto has gone on to win the 450SX Class title in four out of seven seasons.

Stewart's win at the last race in Toronto in 2014 was one of his most memorable. After starting 11th, he passed 10 riders to take over first place and lead the final five laps of the 20-lap Main Event. It was his 49th career 450SX Class win.

The only brands to win in Toronto are Kawasaki, Suzuki and Yamaha. There has never been a 450SX Class and 250SX Class brand sweep of the Main Events.

Justin Bogle, Marvin Musquin and Christophe Pourcel will each look to become the first rider to win both a 450SX Class and 250SX Class Main Event in Toronto.
