Mr. Abdulrahman Al Mannai was elected President of FIM Asia (21 out of 28 votes) at the FIM Asia General Assembly held in Bangkok, Thailand, on Friday, 23 January.
Representing the Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF), Mr. Abdulrahman Al Mannai has been President of the QMMF since 2016 and was re-elected to the FIM Board of Directors in 2024.
He succeeds Mr. Stephan Carapiet, President of the National Motorcycle Sports and Safety Association (NAMSSA) of the Philippines, who previously served as President of FIM Asia from 2010 to 2013, then from 2018 to 2021, and finally from 2022 to 2025.
The elected Board of Director Members of FIM Asia, whose terms will be aligned with that of the President, are Mr. Mohammed Rhiza Bin Ghazi (MAM-Malaysia), Ms. Gong Hong Guo (CMSA-China), and Mr. Kraitos Wongsawan (FMSCT-Thailand). Following two tie results in the election of the fourth Board of Director Member, this vote will be deferred to the FIM Asia General Assembly in 2026.
Following the election, FIM President Jorge Viegas stated: “The FIM Asia General Assembly elected Abdulrahman Al Mannai as President, along with his team, who will lead the thirty Asian National Motorcycling Federations (FMNs) during his term. I wish Abdulrahman, Mohammed, Gong, and Kraitos every success in their work to further develop motorcycling activities in Asia. I would also like to thank Stephan Carapiet for his commitment during his three terms.”
FIM Asia President Abdulrahman Al Mannai added: “FIM Asia plays a vital role in strengthening cooperation among member federations and supporting the growth of our sport at all levels. In this new chapter, I look forward to working closely with each federation to build on our achievements, enhance our programmes and initiatives, and further promote the values of safety, integrity, professionalism, and sporting excellence.”
