Only four days have passed since the second round of the Maxxis FIM SuperEnduro World Championship that took place at the Atlas Arena in Lodz, Poland….a day full of emotions….and surprises! Polish Connection
Generally well-presented in the SuperEnduro with the star Taddy BLAZUSIAK (KTM), the young prospect Pawel SZYMKOWSKI (KTM), the valorous brothers ZYCH (KTM), Tomasz and Adam, and also Michal WLODARCZYK (Gas Gas) and Natalia SNIADA (KTM), Poland was, without any surprises, the nation the most represented for its GP. Indeed, Adam TOMICZEK (KTM), Michal BRACIK (KTM), Jakub KUCHARSKI (KTM) or also Jakub HAFTEK (KTM), Anna WYGACHIEWICZ (KTM) join the team in the Atlas Arena… “Kori” returns
Sunday, November 17th, Echo Arena, Liverpool. We let Kornel NEMETH (H – KTM) around twelve, just after the end of the Last Chance Heat, disappointed about his performance and to no participate to the finals of the afternoon. Indeed, the Hungarian, with engine problems, has never found the good rhythm. But the colossus of Budapest has corrected the target in Lodz by qualifying for the finals and realizing tough races, as for example his 3rd place during the Heat 2 with reverse orders… He finished 9th of the Grand Prix and seems to have recover his modjo that permitted him to reach the 5th final rank during the last Championship… Super Pole powered by Akrapovic
For his second time, the Super Pole has known once again a great success with the public present this Sunday in the tribune and with the riders. This time, we had David KNIGHT (GB – Sherco), Taddy BLAZUSIAK (PL – KTM), Danny MCCANNEY (GB – Beta), Alfredo GOMEZ (E – HVA), Jonny WALKER (GB – KTM) and Mathias BELLINO (F – HVA)… At the end, it’s Taddy BLAZUSIAK who made the best time for the second time a row but has to do a big lap as BELLINO has realized an impressive time. Only 271 hundredths have separated BLAZUSIAK from BELLINO! BLAZUSIAK mania…
Last year, the SuperEnduro had highlighted a true BLAZUSIAK mania in this Atlas Arena in Lodz. One year later, this madness seems to have taken another dimension with a 4th SuperEnduro World title and a 5th Endurocross title. And despite some difficulties, Taddy was the star of the night, the 9 000 spectators of the Atlas Arena cheering loudly on each of his lap. Finally, the well awaited win in the third heat was like deliverance for the KTM rider and the entire Polish people… Homemade
During this 2nd round of the Maxxis FIM SuperEnduro World Championship, the podiums of each class have received prices forged during the event. Indeed, the Lodzki Klub Motorowy has decided to place a local black-smith in the centre of the track where he has created the prices of each category in live! Very original, this idea had a lot of effect next to the riders who also appreciated the leader’s plate realised by AQD Graphics. When BELLINO overtakes Taddy…
Less than a month ago, Mathias BELLINO told us his worries about his capacity to become quickly competitive in SuperEnduro. He hoped at least a Top 10 for this second round but was very far to imagine what was waiting for him in Lodz… It starts during the qualifications when he scratched the 6th best times and was qualified for the Super Pole… where he scored an amazing 2nd place! Then it continued with a mastered race from the beginning till the end in Heat 1 (2nd) and despite some difficulties in the second heat (11th), the HVA rider has realised a splendid last heat by awesomely overtaking Taddy and to take the lead during two laps before getting a bit tired and finishing 4th. At the end of the afternoon, the French has signed a nice 4th position in the GP, and has surprised the entire specialist. The future Taddy? Giacomo REDONDI (I - KTM) “Red”… Azzuro!
The Italian came back from Liverpool a bit disappointed with a GP third place and a 11 points delay on the leader of the class Jamie MCCANNEY (GB – HVA)… Of course, the Brit is still leading after this second Grand Prix, but he is now under the threat of a boosted Giacomo REDONDI (I – KTM). Indeed, it was impossible to beat the KTM rider this Sunday afternoon. However, the official HVA rider tried everything during the two heats but he never found the opportunity to overtake him! “RED” is now back on the Championship and the Junior class should take more intensity from the next Grand Prix in Belo Horizonte (Brazil)! Family Affair 2.0
In Liverpool, we wrote about the DANIELS siblings, Jane and Gary. But, the most known family in SuperEnduro still remains the GOMEZ family composed by Alfredo and Sandra. Better known than his sister, Alfredo GOMEZ (HVA) finished 4th last season and remains as one of the protagonist of the Prestige class. Actually fourth, he is only 6 points behind the third place of his compatriot Dani GIBERT (E – Husaberg). Sandra, on her side, after signing two nice medals in the X-Games is now 3rd in the Women Cup with a delay of only 5 points to Jane DANIELS, the leader. And each other are cheering and showing the best way during each heat… A sibling that we’ll heard a lot during the next years! GO Danny GO
Third young gun to have realised an excellent Grand Prix of Poland, Danny MCCANNEY (GB – Beta) made the show for his first appearance on the handlebar of his Beta 300RR… Indeed, the 2013 SEWC Junior World Champion has realised a complete race in the first heat with a nice 3rd place before to securing to nice 7 ranks in the two others heats. But more than proving he was a tough rival, the new Beta rider clinched two places in the standing, from the 9th to the 7th rank and seems to have one his tickets to participate to the Brazil-Mexico tour… US Boys… and girl!
Very discreet in the assistance park, the US Maxxis FMF/RPM/KTM team is very appealing. Composed by Kevin ROOKSTOOL, Kyle REDMOND and Louise FORSLEY and managed by Scott CALA, this passionate team will be present in the entire Championship. And the least we can say is that they animate perfectly this one… In difficulties in Heat 1 and 3, ROOKSTOOL and REDMOND took the lead during many laps in the second heat like in the Echo Arena in Liverpool! But while they were making the gap, a crash in the steps for the first and a crash in the rock section for the second have deprived them from a first podium in the SuperEnduro. On his side, Louise FORSLEY avenged her teammates, by signing her first podium with a convincing 3rd place. She is fighting for a final podium in the Women Cup…
