Yesterday Arnau Farre – Gas Gas became the sixth different winner in the 2015 FIM Trial World Cup class when he won on the opening day of the Portuguese Trial GP during what has been an extremely intriguing and interesting campaign so far. This marked the second victory for the seventeen year old, with the young Spanish rider having first tasted success at the penultimate round in France last year.
2014 marked the maiden assault in the FIM Trial World Cup for Farre with him making his debut in this category mid-way through last season at the Belgium Grand Prix where he placed eleventh first time out. Thanks to his five point scoring rides, and his triumph in France Arnau ended eleventh in the final 2014 rankings.
Prior to his victory yesterday Arnau had recorded sixth podium finishes in 2015, this including a runners up spot on the second on the second day in Great Britain to follow up on his third spot the previous day, plus two third places in Sweden, and two more lowers rostrum step positions in Andorra and the USA. Farre’s twenty point haul yesterday sees him move up from sixth to fourth in the current general standings and puts him in with a real chance of being in the title hunt with just three days remaining. The eventual winner of this category being determined by the best sixteen results from the eighteen days of competition.
