In just one week the annual FIM Awards Ceremony will be hosted for the first time at the striking Palacongressi Rimini – IEG Expo, Italy. As many will know this area has a deep connection with motorcycling and as a province of the Emilia-Romagna Region, which is at the centre of the ‘Romagna Destination’ Tourist District, it is the perfect location to stage this esteemed gathering.
Saturday 3rd December will allow the entire FIM family to be reunited and to celebrate not only the many FIM World Champions – new and returning – but also importantly the 2022 season, which thanks to much-improved health conditions has seen racing across all disciplines return to normal throughout all continents, and significantly has seen the fans return trackside around the globe.
The FIM Awards Ceremony will be preceded by the FIM General Assembly on Friday 2nd December at the same venue, which will include a full programme during which representatives from more than one hundred national federations will be required to vote on several important matters none less than the election of the FIM President.
This year’s programme includes some additional activities as part of the newly introduced Ride to FIM Awards initiative, starting with a Roundtable meeting titled ‘THE FUTURE: Sustainability and Motorcycling’ which will be held at Museo Ducati Bologna on Tuesday 29th November. Then during the afternoon on the day of the FIM Awards there will be a Pre-event Autograph session with the FIM World Champions at the Teatro Amintore Galli in Rimini.
On the evening of Saturday 3rd December the newly elected FIM President will join the hundreds of guests from all corners of the motorcycle community to recognise and applaud the recently crowned FIM World Champions’ achievements - in many cases as individuals, but also as part of their national or sporting team in other cases too. Whatever their discipline, their incredible skill and bravery will be fully appreciated by all present as they take to the stage to collect their gold medals.
In addition to celebrating sporting success, equally the FIM Awards are a moment to acknowledge the efforts of all those involved in and the winners of the FIM Trophies that now include - Women in Motorcycling Trophy; FIM Environmental Trophy; FIM Family Trophy; FIM Trophy for The Future, FIM Road Safety Trophy and FIM Touring World Challenge.
