Three cities will host this year's FOGO FIM Speedway U21 World Championship. The series will start on 27 June in Poznań - Poland, round two will be held in Stralsund - Germany on 5 September, with the final encounter taking place in Pardubice - Czech Republic on 2 October.
Once again and for the second time in a row, the FIM Speedway U21 World Championship will be sponsored by FOGO. The Leszno-based company have been involved in speedway for years, so this ongoing title sponsorship agreement is definitely a positive relationship for the whole discipline.
It will be the thirty-third edition of the series, which will ultimately decide the World's best U21 rider. So far, only three riders have claimed for this title twice. Last year after an emotional campaign, it was Maksym Drabik who took gold, and with his 2019 title joined the elite club of these double champions. 2020 again looks to be a tightly fought battle, with the favourites to collect this year’s crown being the same two riders who tussled for the other 2019 medal places right until the final race. Those being Dominik Kubera and Gleb Chugunov. For sure, the three rounds that have been planned for this year will once again deliver a huge level of action and drama.
The opening round will be held in Poznań, which had the same honour back in 2017. Back then, it was Maksym Drabik celebrating a victory after gathering maximum points. When it comes to other hosts in 2020, one that really stands out is Stralsund - Germany - which is a new venue on the calendar - its three hundred and eighty five metre long track is quite similar to the one in Pardubice, where the series will reach its climax.
Qualification rounds for the 2020 FOGO FIM Speedway U21 World Championship start on 6 June in Ludwigslust - Germany, Riga - Latvia and Manchester - Great Britain. Final rounds will be held as follows:

Confirming the importance of this announcement Armando Castagna – FIM CCP Director said: “The FOGO FIM Speedway U21 World Championship will start with fifty four riders in the qualifying rounds, then the top twelve riders who qualify plus three permanent wild cards named by the FIM U21 Commission and one wild card form the organising country at each round will compete for this prestigious title.”
“This Championship becomes stronger every year with its level increasing and some of the riders could compete without any problems in the Speedway Grand Prix already.”
“The three finals are hosted in Poland, Germany and Czech Republic, every one of these Countries is a breeding ground of future champions. Our Promoter One Sport has put a lot of effort into this series and we would like to congratulate them as the results are clearly visible.”
