23rd Motorcycle & Scooter Ride To Work Day - Monday, 16 June 2014
In 2014, the FIM is pleased to continue its support for International Ride to Work Day through its National Federations worldwide.
June 16 is the traditional date of the annual worldwide Ride to Work Day event. This event, which originated in the USA twenty-three years ago, has been growing ever since.
Motorcycles and scooters consume fewer resources per km than automobiles and take up less space in parking areas and on the roads. Riders are seeking employer and community support for this efficient form of transportation and are encouraging more government and public awareness about the many benefits of riding.
According to the Ride To Work non-profit organisation, commuting showcases the positive value of
motorcycles and scooters for transportation. For hundreds of thousands of workers, motorcycles and scooters are an economical, efficient and socially responsible form of mobility that saves energy, reduces traffic congestion and provides a broad range of other public benefits. Motorcycle and scooter clubs, along with FIM affiliated National Federations around the world, are encouraging their members to ride to work, and especially on this annual day.
