2012 FIM Team Ice Speedway Gladiators World Championship

Anatoly Stepanov Stadium, Togliatti (Russia) 25th and 26th February

Although we take a break from the Individual World Championship, most of the participants and their colleagues will be busily preparing for the team title to be held this year in Russia. After last weekend’s races in Ufa many of the bikes will have been transported directly to Togliatti where the workshops will be fully used in advance of the Team Final. As usual this event will take place over two days with seven teams hopeful of success and the draw made in Geneva is as follows:

A.    The Netherlands
B.    Czech Republic
C.    Austria
D.    Germany
E.    Russia
F.    Finland
G.    Sweden

The Russians on home ground are expected to dominate the event and with so many riders available for selection, they will be the team to beat.
Main interest will centre on the competition for the following places where the teams are more evenly matched. Historically, the Scandinavians have a good record in this competition and the Finns and Swedes will be continuing their traditional rivalry. The Austrian team is also likely to be in contention for one of the top places.

Saturday’s racing commences under floodlights at 17.00 with a 15.00 start on Sunday. FIM Jury President is Petr Ondrasek of the Czech Republic and the FIM Referee Marek Wojaczek from Poland.

More information and details of the squads will appear on this website shortly.
