2012 FIM Speedway Under 21 World Championship Final 3

The ‘junior’ version of the World Speedway Championship moves to Coventry’s Brandon Stadium for Round 3 on Friday 17th August and the draw has now been announced. After the first two rounds in Italy and Croatia were held in blistering 30 degree temperatures riders will be hoping for lower readings on the thermometer when they arrive in Great Britain.

The heat on the track is unlikely to be cooler however, as current champion Maciej Janowski goes into the meeting one point ahead of Mikkel B Jensen with Michael Jepsen Jensen in third place. Both Janowski (King’s Lynn) and Jepsen Jensen (Peterborough) are riding for Elite League teams and have already visited Brandon this year and the Pawlicki brothers both rode for the Coventry team in 2011 so will have some knowledge of the track. Most of the others will be paying their first visit to this venue.

A big blow for home fans is that broken leg victim Richie Worral who was aiming to return for this meeting has failed a fitness test and his place will be taken by Denmark’s Nikolaj Jakobsen, the highest Qualified Substitute Rider.  Wild Cards for this meeting are Kyle Newman and Tom Perry.
