The 2nd Round of the 2010 FIM Sidecar World Championship Series will take place at the German circuit of Schleiz (www.schleizer-dreieck.de) on the week-end of May 7th to 9th.
19 sidecar-teams from 11 countries will fight for victory in two races: A 11 lap Sprint-Race will be held on Saturday and the long distance 22 lap Gold-Race on Sunday.
We expect a very exciting week-end: At the season debut in Le Mans 2010 the first 4 teams qualified within 0.3 seconds.
Current leaders of the 2010 FIM Sidecar World Championship are Le Mans winners Pekka Päivärinta/Adolf Hänni (LCR-Suzuki), who won the Gold Race at Schleiz in 2009.
The Birchall Brothers (2nd in Le Mans 2010 and World Champions 2009) were last year's winners of the Sprint Race.
The German team Hock/Becker (LCR-Suzuki) are also favourites, coming in third place at Le Mans circuit and being winners of last week-end's race of the German Championship race (IDM) at Lausitzring. Also the British/French pair Reeves/Cluze (LCR-Honda) have good chances to jump on the podium.
Beside the 2010 FIM World Championship races, there will be many other sidecar classes starting at Schleiz: Overall more than 80 outfits will participate in different sidecar races (classic sidecar).
There will be also a meeting of former sidecar drivers, for example World Champions Rolf Biland, Steve Webster, Klaus Klaffenböck, Steve Abbott, Egbert Streuer, Werner Schwärzel. Max Deubel and many others more.
Like every year the organisers of the Schleiz race have prepared a fantastic weekend for sidecar drivers, teams and fans.
