Pata Honda disputera la saison 2014 dans le Championnat du Monde FIM Supersport avec h Michael van der Mark et Lorenzo Zanetti l'année prochaine.
Les deux hommes ont effectués leurs débuts cette saison ils occupent actuellement les quatrième et cinquième places respectivement avant la dernière course qui aura lieu à Jerez, en Espagne, le 20 octobre.
Van der Mark, 20 ans, a impressionné dès la première course, en Australie. Le Néerlandais est monté sur le podium à cette occasion, un exploit qu'il a réédité à deux reprises par la suite.
Après avoir couru en Superbike, l'année dernière, Zanetti, italien de Brescia, c'est très bien adapté à la CBR600RR. Il est lui aussi monté sur le podium, chez lui à Monza.

Je suis vraiment heureux de connaître à présent ma feuille de route pour l'année prochaine et de passer une nouvelle saison avec Pata Honda en Supersport. Cette saison a déjà été géniale et je pense que pour la prochaine je vais essayer de me battre pour le titre de champion.
Lorenzo Zanetti
C'est fantastique pour moi de continuer avec cette équipe est dans cette catégorie parce que ces quatre dernières années j'ai changé à la fois de moto et de catégorie. C'est très difficile d'apprendre tout cela à nouveau. Pour moi 2014 sera le début de la période de stabilité. Je pense qu'en quelques courses j'ai réussi à démontrer mon potentiel. Cet hiver va être très important pour continuer à progresser. Je me prépare à me battre pour le championnat avec Michael.

We’re very happy with next year’s line-up because we’ve been very satisfied with this year’s performances from Michael and Lorenzo. For both riders it has been a rookie season in World Supersport and both have done really well. At the end of this season there is still a fight for third position so we believe there is a lot more to come. They are great guys to work with – on the track and off it – and they have a really good working relationship, both between themselves and with the team, so it’s an almost a perfect combination.

The decision on our Supersport rider line-up was based on different reasons for each rider. For Michael, we think that it will be good for him to have another season in this championship before stepping up to a bigger class. With his brilliant result at the Suzuka 8-hour race this year he has shown his great potential on a bigger machine, but we would like to have him for another year in Supersport to improve his competition skills and racecraft at the top of a world championship. We think he will certainly be a protagonist in the title next year. Lorenzo learned his craft on smaller bikes and that experience has been very useful for Michael this year. He has also had a year to learn our machine after coming from Superbike last year and has really shown an improvement and demonstrated his potential in the last few races. We are very happy that he will continue that development next year and fight for the 2014 world championship.
