The origin of the Croatian Motorcycle Federation traces back to 1924, when several clubs in the region decided to establish an association. So, 2024 marks 100 years of work in this regard and the existence of motorcycle sport in the country. This great anniversary was celebrated at the Esplanade Hotel in Zagreb.
The ceremony was attended by the representative of the Prime Minister and the Minister of Tourism and Sports - Tonči Glavina; the representative of the President of the Croatian Parliament and MP - Zoran Gregurović; the State Secretary - Branko Hrg; the President of the HOO - Zlatko Mateša plus other high-ranking state and city officials, as well as representatives of donors and sponsors, and further representatives from other associations and many important invited guests.
The Croatian Motorcycle Federation was especially delighted by the presence of Mr. Jorge Viegas – FIM President and Mr. Michal Sikora – FIM Europe President.
The President of the Croatian Motorcycle Federation - Mr. Stjepan Peršin thanked everyone for coming and pointed out that the federation is one of the oldest national associations and now includes more than sixty motorcycle clubs before explaining: “Croatia has achieved very good results in motorcycling and has hosted several European Championships so far and excels in touring both in terms of organising and participating in FIM touring events. Until now, we have been a successful organiser of major international circuit racing competitions in Preluk, after the Grobnik Automotodrom was built at the end of the seventies and where GP races were held. We were also the organisers of world championship motocross events in Karlovac, Jastrebarski and Zabok, as well as the organisers of speedway competitions with GP races still held on the track in Donji Kraljevac.”
At the end of the ceremony, certificates of appreciation were awarded to deserving individuals, companies, institutions and, of course, athletes, clubs and long-term workers within the sport.
