Secretaries General of FIM FMNs meet in Mies


A meeting of the Secretaries General of the FIM affiliated National Federations (FMNs) took place today, Wednesday 15 June, at the FIM Headquarters in Mies, Switzerland. 

The meeting was part of a series of initiatives aimed at fostering exchanges and closer relations between the FIM and the FMNs and the CONUs . More specifically, the aim of the meeting was to inform the FMNs of the operational implications of a number of decisions taken by the FIM Board of Directors during and to provide an opportunity for discussions and exchanges. The main themes of the meeting were as follows:

•    Harmonisation of riders’ licences
The project for harmonisation of FIM licences for riders, is aimed at creating a system that will be easier to use for all the FIM’s stakeholders. Under this new system, which will be implemented online, the FIM will produce all FIM licences relating to FIM World Championships, Continental/Promotional Championships of the CONUs and FIM international licences.

•    Licences Insurance project
The general principles of the Licences Insurance Project, the main aim of which is to ensure that all riders benefit from optimum insurance coverage, were also presented to the Secretaries General in the presence of Insurance brokers, who worked on this programme with the FIM. The first phase of the programme will focus on providing cover for medical treatment and repatriation for all FIM/CONU licences.

•    FIM Subsidies programmeThe FIM Subsidies programme is meant to benefit the entire FIM Family. The Secretaries General were provided with details concerning the new procedures approved by the FIM Board of Directors and the first projects that could potentially be financed in the near term.

This meeting took place in the presence of FIM CEO Ignacio Verneda, Executive Director, Operations, Steve Aeschlimann and other members of the FIM Administration. FIM President Vito Ippolito greeted the FMN representatives present and welcomed them to the FIM headquarters.

Following the meeting, Mr Verneda expressed his satisfaction at the attendance, with FMNs representing three continents as well as two CONU Secretaries General, and the open and constructive nature of the discussions: “This working session was an opportunity to meet and exchange views and information on significant projects designed to improve the services provided to FMNs and CONUs. I consider that it was a very interesting and useful meeting”.
